We have been so very lucky over the years to have benefited to an amazing degree from Sarah’s decision, at a very early age, to pursue one goal as a career…to fly planes for British Airways.
As everyone knows, she made that dream come true and in doing so, opened up a world of opportunity for her mum, her dad and sometimes her brother, to travel the world. We have embraced this privilege over the years and made our own dreams come true and indeed our goal of “50 in 50” would have been a simple pipe dream and totally unattainable without this gift.
In truth, staff travel hasn’t all been First and Business Class and I recall one occasion of being left behind in America as Linda was the recipient of the last seat on a Jumbo jet back to the UK. I’ll never forget her tears as she waved goodbye to me and boarded the aircraft home leaving me to enjoy a fabulous night out with ten other staff travellers in a Phoenix bar! ๐๐ I did get on a flight the following day which was probably just as well.
We’ve been lucky again today having the benefit of a Club seat and receiving incredibly kind and generous care from the crew who are aware of our 50 years together. We can’t stop smiling and it has redressed the balance after the debacle with our hotel last night, a problem with our meet and greet parking at Terminal 5 today and finally, me dragging my precious Oakley sunglasses along the terminal floor underneath my suitcase!! Don’t ask…!
A quick flight time of just 8 hours, not long enough when you are enjoying such wonderful treatment, but which should see us in our bed by 0100 hours UK time and ready for an early start to Dayton, Ohio in the morning.
I have included a photo of me with Sarah taken in South Africa earlier this year and want to wish her all the luck and best wishes in the world as she starts her command course in just under two weeks.
